Getting started
Install on Mac, write one note, confirm it landed in Documents. Everything else builds from that.
1. Download
Use Download for Mac on the site — it points at the latest GitHub release. Open the DMG and drag Markdown Locker into Applications.
2. First open on Mac
macOS may show a warning that Apple could not verify the app. That is normal until we finish Apple’s developer signing process. It does not mean the download is damaged.
To open it:
- Try to open Markdown Locker once, then click Done on the warning
- Open System Settings → Privacy & Security
- Scroll down and choose Open Anyway next to Markdown Locker
- Confirm with your password or Touch ID
After that, the app opens like any other. We’re working on full Apple verification so this step goes away.
3. Capture something
On the Capture tab, type a few lines and hit Save. Or Smart Paste from a webpage, or pull content From URL.
4. Find the file
Notes save to:
~/Documents/Markdown Locker
Use Open Locker in the app, or open that folder in Finder.
You should see a .md file you can open in any editor.
5. Explore
Switch to Explore to search and reopen notes into Capture.
6. Think (optional Pro)
Think needs Pro and an API key for full model answers. See Pricing and API keys.
